Gueberschwihr
Winegrowers from father to son since 1696, the Weck family has been perpetuating its know-how for many generations. Located in the heart of Alsace's vineyards (12 km south of Colmar), the François Weck et fils estate covers 13 hectares. It comprises numerous parcels of vines spread over the hillsides of Gueberschwihr, Pfaffenheim, Westhalten, Hattstatt, Herrlisheim and Ingersheim, Ammerschwihr. These very different soils enable us to benefit from the advantages of different terroirs, and thus obtain wines with very diverse characteristics.
Our production has been certified organic since 2014. We seek to promote cultivation techniques that are less aggressive on the environment. That's why we alternate grassing and ploughing in our vineyards, and haven't used chemical weedkillers since 2009. We hand-pick our trellises to reduce tractor use, so that our wires remain in the vine rows for life and produce no waste. We combine hand-picking with traditional winemaking techniques to preserve the terroir-varietal character of each of our wines.
